These plates and mugs have both a decorative and utility function. The glaze is food-safe and they are dishwasher-safe.

Agateware (aka nerikomi) is an ancient marble technique that involves mixing different types of clay for a decorative effect. This technique was first found in Egypt and China. Kurinukl is a Japanese hand-molding technique in which a solid block of clay is hollowed out, the outside remains rough and looks unfinished. The nerikomi and kurinuki techniques both lead to unique and characteristic results.

Here are the results of different hand-molding techniques such as construction with plates, construction with rings and thumb sockets. A number of these works were made for the ceramics exam at the Dutch Ceramics Course.
